JSON WORKSPACE
JSON Formatter & Validator
Format and validate JSON.
Input is processed on this site only when you run the tool. The application does not save inputs or results.
input.json
Result result.json
A little clarity goes here.
Run the tool to see your result.
Result preview
UTF-8 text, at most 262144 bytes per input. Tab leaves the editor. Plain text disables syntax colors. Browser textareas may normalize line endings to LF.
{"format":{"inputMode":"text","options":{"indent":{"type":"enum","values":[2,4],"default":2}}},"validate":{"inputMode":"text","options":[],"outputFormat":"text"}}{"format":{"input":"{\"project\":\"Example\",\"active\":true}","output":"{\n \"project\": \"Example\",\n \"active\": true\n}","options":{"indent":2}},"validate":{"input":"42","output":"Valid JSON.","options":[]}}A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
A familiar workflow,
with room to focus.
Paste JSON, or load the example.
Choose Format with 2 or 4 spaces, or Validate without formatting.
Inspect the result and any duplicate-key warning, then copy or download.
When to use JSON Formatter & Validator
Make a compact JSON response readable during debugging, or check whether a document has valid JSON syntax before sharing a fictional example.
Read the result
Format changes insignificant whitespace while retaining scalar spellings. Validate checks syntax, not an application schema; duplicate object keys remain ambiguous and are warned about.

Formats, limits and common errors
Check double quotes, commas, matching brackets and valid UTF-8. Error messages do not quote your data.
- Objects, arrays and scalar roots are supported. Original number and string tokens, key order and duplicate members are preserved.
- No comments, trailing commas, automatic repairs or code execution. Duplicate names are ambiguous and produce a warning.
- At most 64 container levels and 10,000 values per input.
- Input: 262,144 UTF-8 bytes per text field. Output: at most 524,288 UTF-8 bytes; serialized responses have a separate 1 MiB ceiling. Size/work failures return no partial result.
